Hi! My name is Tadhg.
I’m not certain which undiagnosed mental illness this is a symptom of, but since 2017 I have been writing detailed and elaborate ‘reports’ on books that I’ve read and sending them to an audience of two, my mother and sister. I call these ‘Unsolicited Book Reports’.
More about unsolicited book reports:
Despite spending many hours meticulously reading and taking notes on the books which are the subject of reports and dedicating a not insignificant amount of time to structuring and drafting them, not all (or even any!) have been met with the response or discussion that I hoped for. In 2022, I had the epiphany that I should share these reports with interested others, amateur members of the literati, or unschooled bookworms, that want to find comedy and joy in literature. It is for this reason I created the Unsolicited Book Reports website.
My unskilled reports fall under the following categories:
- Unsolicited Book Reports: A standalone rating and exegesis on a novel.
- Summer Reading Adventure (SRA): Six terse paragraphs on six novels read during the summer. (Readers must note that I take liberties with the concept of the ‘terse paragraph’)
- Halloween Spooktaculars: An unsolicited report on a spooky book, posted on All Hallows Eve.
- What’s the Difference: A lengthy and critical examination of the areas of similarity and difference between a book and its film adaptation.
I hope that you will enjoy what you read and share your views and opinions. Do you agree? Was I too harsh on that old classic? Let it be known in the comments or contact me directly.
